Why do we need the Scheme?

In many medical emergencies, people can die within the first few minutes, however there are times when if simple but critical interventions can be performed within those first few minutes, life can be saved. This is especially true for heart attacks.

Wiltshire St. John Ambulance and Great Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust believe that with the right training, equipment and support, Neighbourhood First Responders can work alongside NHS ambulance crews to provide the best level of pre-hospital care possible. Such a partnership is of particular importance in the more rural areas, such as Hilmarton.

In the provision of life-saving first aid, every second counts.
