Megajolt

Well the megajolt is fitted and working well so thaught it was time to put some documentation/pictures/details on here

The engine is a standard Sierra OHC (Pinto 2L) and came with the standard distributer coil and amp
The distributer also runs the oil pump from its drive at the bottom - so had to find some method of keeping the oil pump running without the bulk of the dissy getting in the way of the carbs
The solution was to get an old dissy off eBay (£5) and chop it up!!
I hacksawed the dissy at the stem, the alloy is nice and soft and easy to cut - but the inner drive rod is a bugger to cut and is VERY hard
I then managed to get a sealed bearing and using a drill as a lathe managed to hollow out the alloy to accept the bearing, and managed to just turn the rod down so that the bearing was a nice fit on the shaft (patience required)

Here it is installed on the block
Notice I managed to find a spring washer and plastic cap to fit over the end of the rod to keep it in place
I also blanked off the mechanical fuel pump now I've gone electric for the bike carbs

I have got a small ammount of oil that does escape past this and am thinking that I may need to get another plastic cap to go over the outer of the alloy body to keep the engine bay oil free - though it is only a small ammount that comes out after long distances

I have since wired in the shift lights and stuck them to the steering wheel cowl - a bit bodgy and perhaps a bit bright at night - but they work fine :-)

I have been thinking about trying to get the shift lights to blink just before the soft rev limiter cuts in and think I have found a way of ding this - but am a bit reluctant to do it yet

Here is my idea of how to...

I think I can get a 555 timer to do the blinky bit - but not quite sure of how much current the transistors in the megajolt can handle at the moment... bit more reading up to do..

The Map that I'm currently using is running fine - and is "safe" (no pinking) but I will eventually get round to sticking Sweet Pea II onto a rolling road and fine tune for max power/minimum advance..
The current map.. as you can see its as flat as Norfolk and not much variation for TPS position (about 3 degrees) where the vaccum dissy would have moved it much more than this, almost a 2d map then... but works fine for me
