The first attempt at building a Locost

I have started building a Lotus 7 inspired sports car
Ok that is a slight exaggeration.

I have bought a very good book that claims that I could build a car for £250 by Ron Champion.

What did my first £30 into the build get me?

...A very second hand Mk II Escort 1300cc V reg. (1979)

with great upholstry!!!

The chap even threw in a spare engine, gearbox and streeing rack

The donor vehicle has got a few minor problems - like pressure (smoke!) that pours out of the oil filler / breather and dipstick holes
(I suspect that the bores are shot - it’s a good job it came with a spare engine - as soon as I pick them up I'll test them in the donor shell first)

 This is what we want at the end …..

I'm within budget so far (Having blown less than £50 at this point and have compiled the list of other donor parts needed for the running gear and think I may have a buyer for the donor cars shell

Fiona has promised to lend a hand where possible
